Suchomimus was a large spinosaurid dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, around 125 to 112 million years ago. Measuring up to 11 meters (36 feet) in length, Suchomimus had a long, crocodile-like snout filled with conical teeth, well-adapted for catching fish. Its body was robust, and it likely led a semi-aquatic lifestyle, spending time in rivers and swamps. Suchomimus also had a distinctive sail or ridge along its back and long, strong forelimbs equipped with large claws. Fossils of Suchomimus were discovered in Niger, Africa, providing significant insights into the diversity of spinosaurids and their adaptations for life near water.
