Tylosaurus was a massive marine reptile, specifically a mosasaur, that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 85 to 80 million years ago. It measured up to 14 meters (46 feet) in length and was one of the largest marine predators of its time. Tylosaurus had an elongated body with powerful flippers and a long tail for swimming, making it an agile hunter in the ocean. Its head featured a long, conical snout and strong jaws filled with sharp teeth, well-suited for preying on fish, sharks, other marine reptiles, and even birds. Fossils of Tylosaurus have been found primarily in North America, especially in the Western Interior Seaway, where it dominated the marine ecosystems.
